Handmade in Italy, Installed in Tokyo: Imperfettolab & The Art of Global Design Sourcing

Imperfettolab on the rooftop of the iconic 10 Corso Como.

In a world where design travels faster than ever, the soul of a space is still anchored in the quality—and story—of the objects within it. At IROCO, we believe that sourcing is not just about selecting pieces; it’s about curating emotion, identity, and presence. And few collections speak to this philosophy more boldly than ImperfettoLab—a brand born on the Adriatic coast of Italy
and now arriving in some of Tokyo’s most expressive spaces through IROCO.

From the Shores of Cesena to the Global Stage
ImperfettoLab was founded in 1992 by siblings Verter and Emanuela Turroni, sculptors by training and visionaries by nature. What began as a local workshop in Cesena, Italy, has grown into an internationally revered studio—yet their approach remains intensely hands-on, slow-crafted, and emotionally grounded. Every Imperfetto Lab piece is cast in fiberglass, a material chosen for its strength, flexibility, and ability to mimic natural textures. The form is then hand-sanded, pigmented, and finished—resulting in objects that feel ancient yet futuristic, organic yet monolithic. From seating to consoles, each design retains subtle marks of its making. These are not factory-perfect
replicas; they are sculptural artifacts—one-of-a-kind objects born of intentional imperfection.

Sculptural Storytelling Meets Tokyo Minimalism
At IROCO, we specialize in bridging worlds. Our design sourcing philosophy is centered on functional sculpture, collectible design, and furniture that tells a story before a word is spoken. In Tokyo—where design sensibility is refined, textural, and deeply spatial—ImperfettoLab resonates profoundly. It speaks to the city’s balance of opposites: ancient and avant-garde, refined and raw, brutal and soft.
When we place a piece like the Antipode Table or the Cittolo Stool into a luxury retail, hospitality, or residential setting, it doesn’t just fill space—it defines it. These are objects with architectural presence, able to anchor open floor plans or serve as sculptural punctuation within a minimalist
environment.

The IROCO Advantage: Curating Emotion Across Borders
What sets IROCO apart is not only our access to global design houses, but our ability to integrate these collectible brands into the Japanese market seamlessly. From procurement to installation, we manage the complex logistics of importing high-value artisan goods—ensuring every detail, from finish to freight, honors the designer’s original vision.

Our clients—from boutique developers to global hospitality brands—turn to IROCO for statement objects that elevate their spaces from functional to unforgettable. Whether the goal is to create intimacy in a private residence or impact in a flagship store, we source design that communicates emotional materiality, organic asymmetry, and bold silhouettes.

A dynamic dialogue between form and material, relating the artworks through their chosen materials.

Why Imperfect is the New Perfect
ImperfettoLab captures a global design shift: the return to wabi-sabi elegance, primal beauty, and the appreciation of raw textures. In an age of sterile mass production, these handmade forms offer something richer—objects of emotion, made slowly and intentionally. Among the standout pieces available through IROCO are the Radici stools, which echo the raw, root-like forms found in nature—each one a study in organic asymmetry and tactile minimalism. The Fossili coffee tables serve as both functional surfaces and sculptural storytelling objects, evoking fossil imprints and primitive landscapes. The Milos console, with its smooth curves and elemental shape, introduces a sense of architectural presence into even the most restrained interiors. Each of these pieces is crafted by hand in Italy and selected by IROCO to offer our clients furniture that feels less like a product, and more like poetry—objects of emotion that anchor space with meaning.
When we place these sculptural forms into Japanese spaces, something transformative happens. The object, space, and viewer engage in quiet dialogue. This is the art of sourcing—not just shipping furniture across borders, but translating souls across cultures.
